City of <br />Pequot <br />Lakes._ _ <br />AGENDA ITEM #5.1 <br />REPORT TO <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />Report Prepared by: Sandy Peine, City Clerk <br />Date: August 6, 2013 <br />Subiect: Urban Rural Taxing District Ordinance <br />Report: On June 4, 2013, the City Council unanimously <br />voted to equalize the rural service district to that of the <br />urban service district over a period of 3 years. On July 23, <br />2013, the Council held a public hearing to receive public <br />input on the equalization of the urban and rural service <br />districts. <br />Tonight's Council meeting will allow the Council to <br />discuss the issue prior to making a final decision. The <br />public hearing has been closed, therefore; public input will <br />not be taken at this meeting. <br />The ordinance that is being considered equalizes the two <br />taxing districts using a three-year phase-in period. <br />
