City Council Minutes <br />June 4, 2013 <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />----------------------------- <br />MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5- <br />0. <br />The Council acknowledged John's years of service with the City and <br />offered their thanks and appreciation. <br />8.2. Reauest to Advertise for Police Seraeant <br />Chief Eric Klang requested the Council to begin the process of hiring a <br />police sergeant. Chief Klang also recommended that the wage be posted <br />at Step 8 of the pay structure for a non-exempt sergeant. He stated that <br />budget impact for 2013 would be $3,100. <br />Council discussion took place regarding the actual cost to hire a sergeant <br />and whether the $3,100 included overtime pay. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF <br />OF POLICE TO ADVERTISE FOR THE POSITION OF POLICE <br />SERGEANT AT STEP 8 OF THE PAY STRUCTURE FOR AS A NON- <br />EXEMPT POSITION. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE <br />MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />9.1. Citv Enqineer Report - Verbal <br />Tim Houle stated that there will be several issues with the Highway 371 <br />project in which the City may need engineering assistance. He noted that <br />he will wait for direction from the City Council regarding negotiations with <br />the Council on turnbacks and other issues related to the Highway 371 <br />realignment project. <br />Tim Houle stated that it may be beneficial for the Council to have a <br />meeting to talk about funding options with their funding specialist. The <br />Council concurred. <br />9.2. Award Sidewalk Bid <br />Tim Houle presented the two bids for the sidewalk projects. He <br />recommended that the Council accept the lowest bid. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO ACCEPT THE BID FROM <br />ANDERSON BROTHERS FOR THE SIDWALK PROJECT IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $41,390. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED <br />THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br />
