City Council Minutes May 7, 2013 Page 4 of 5 ----------------------------- COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 13- 12 AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE TRAILSIDE PARK PROPERTY IN THE CENTER OF TOWN FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. 7. Fire Fire reports received by Council. 8. Police Nothing to report. , ,f%i,;., , ,,�/ , . , /,. 9.1. Sidewalk Improvements Tim Houle informed the Council that Mike is working on several sidewalk improvements in the City including the sidewalks at City Hall, the Post Office, and Second Street behind SuperAmerica next to TDS. The Mayor asked whether adding a sidewalk on the south side of C.R. 11 is in the plan. Mike Loven noted that a sidewalk in that location would involve the DNR, MnDOT and the County. He suggested that the City wait on doing that sidewalk. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE SIDWALK PROJECTS. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4- 0. Tim Houle noted that bids will close on May 30t" at 10 a.m. and be presented to the Council in June. 9.2. Citv Enaineer Report - Verbal Tim Houle informed the Council that there are a few items to take care of on the Government Drive project and that the project will close very soon. Tim Houle noted that he did not have a Washington Street design proposal at this time. Council Member Sjoblad stated that he has an issue with the parking as proposed. He noted that the parking is currently inefficient at the area of the restaurant and the shoe store. He noted that he does not believe the street should be designed to be pretty but be designed to be more utilitarian. Council Member Akerson and Council Member Gardner concurred that there is a need for more parking in the area.
