Minutes to meeting of <br />Pequot Lakes Community Library <br />Board of Directors <br />April 16, 2013 <br />Chairman John Longnecker called the meeting to arder at 6:30 p.m. Members present were <br />John Longnecker, Sam Hennies, David Anderson, Lavone Sullivan, Renee Moodie and Claire <br />Nagel. Absent: Jean Clark. Also present: Liaison to City Council Jerry Akerson. <br />Sam, seconded by Claire, approved minutes of the March meeting. <br />David gave the treasurer's report. The library has Endowment certi�cates of deposit in the <br />amount of $77,856.12 and a rainy day certiiicate of deposit in the amount of $5,022.05, <br />totaling $82,878.17. The total amount in the library checking account is $19,568.24. Lavone, <br />seconded by Sam, approved the report. <br />Chairman Longnecker reported that the library has been reinstated with half of the amount <br />taken away by Kitchigami in the early part of this year. We will be receiving $5,000 each <br />year by KRLS for purchasing library materials. John gave thanks to all who wrote to the <br />county board asking for help and especially to Jon Henke for preparing a presentation on <br />behalf of the Crosslake and Pequot Lakes libraries and presenting it to the Kitchigami Library <br />and Crow Wing County boards. <br />Discussion was had about the bookshop and the book sale. Shall we have both or just the <br />shop or just the sale? John will ask Nancy what she thinks we should do. No decision was <br />made by the board. <br />The library will be closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 22, 23 and 24 for the <br />installation of new library software. All the volunteers will come in on Wed., April 24 to be <br />trained in how to use the new software. Thank you to John and Doris Longnecker for <br />donating the cost of the software, $1,875. <br />The Quest, a new nutrition club, has opened in Pequot. Brianna Visser, one of the owners, <br />approached John about placing library information (photos, bookmarks, etc.) in their shop for <br />a specified time and The Quest would invite each of the volunteers to come in on a certain <br />day and have a free nutrition shake. This offer was approved by Lavone and seconded by <br />John. Nancy will provide them with names of our volunteers. John and/or Claire will bring <br />information over to the shop for display. <br />The library has been given a very generous anonymous donation of $10,000 to be used for <br />building projects. We will go ahead with the idea we've had to remove the kids' room door <br />and the computer room door and fill in the spaces with wall. Discussion will have to be had <br />with Mike Loven, director of city maintenance, and Dawn Bittner of P&Z as to codes, etc. <br />Per a motion by Sam, seconded by Renee, John will get bids from two construction <br />companies for this project. Claire will look on the Internet for info on people counters to put <br />on the main front door. <br />Claire will ask SuperValu which weekends are open for brat sales and report in May. <br />The library would like to have a large spigoted jug for use at library functions. Claire will <br />look into price. <br />Renee brought up the need for a shredder and she will look into prices. <br />Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m. <br />
