He stated that the Paul Bunyan
Bridge #18002 would not incur additional funds from the City because the
total cost does not exceed the allowable amount for aesthetics.
Mr. Houle noted that the Bridge Committee preferred the CSAH
11/Interchange Bridge #18009 to have an aesthetically pleasing design
thus the reason for the bobber emblem, decorative street lights, and the
stone work. The Council wondered if these items would be noticed by
motorists traveling 65 MPH or if signage would be a better use of funds.
Mr. Houle stated that the City would incur a cost of$13,414 for this bridge
because the total cost exceeds the allowable amount for aesthetics.
Mayor Sjoblad asked the Council to think about better uses for this money
such as a metal mural or signage.
COUNCIL MEMBER LOUKOTA MOVED TO ACCEPT THE BRIDGE
DESIGNS FOR BRIDGE #18002 (PAUL BUNYAN BRIDGE) AND
BRIDGE #18009 (CSAH 11/INTERCHANGE BRIDGE) AS
RECOMMENDED BY THE BRIDGE COMMITTEE.
