AUTHORIZED PURCHASE OF A 60 MONTH CD FROM LAKES <br /> STATE BANK FOR $5,000 AS REQUESTED BY THE LIBRARY <br /> BOARD <br /> 3.8. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SPECIAL EVENT PERMIT FOR <br /> SANTA'S BOBBIN INTO TOWN <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 4. Open Forum <br /> The City's consulting Engineer Tim Houle presented the Council with a <br /> box of candy and a map. He thanked the Council and wished those <br /> present happy holidays. <br /> 5. Presentations <br /> 5.1. Community Action of Pequot Lakes, Inc. <br /> Kimberly Ziesemer, president of the Community Action, addressed the <br /> Council regarding the newly formed group. She reviewed the mission <br /> statement which is to work within the Community to promote the Pequot <br /> Lakes area. She explained that membership is open to anyone. Ms. <br /> Ziesemer explained some of the projects and initiatives for 2014. <br /> 5.2. Pequot Lakes Community Library <br /> Claire Nagel, Library Board Chair, informed the Council that the Library <br /> Board has been discussing the merits of joining the Kitchigami Regional <br /> Library System. After reviewing the pros and cons of the issue, the Pequot <br /> Lakes Library Board unanimously voted to recommend that the Library not <br /> become part of the Kitchigami Regional Library System at this time as it <br /> would not be in the best interest of the Library or the City. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED THAT THE PEQUOT LAKES <br /> LIBRARY REMAIN INDEPENDENT AND NOT JOIN THE KITCHIGAMI <br /> REGIONAL LIBRARY SYSTEM AT THIS TIME BUT THAT THE CITY <br /> CONTINUE ITS EXISTING RELATIONSHIP WITH THE KITCHIGAMI <br /> LIBRARY SYSTEM. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE <br /> MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> 5.3a. Budget and Levy Presentation <br /> 5.3b. Public Hearing on Budgets and Levies <br /> 5.3c. Adoption of 2014 City Budgets <br /> 5.3d. Consider Tax Levy Resolutions <br />
