MINUTES <br /> CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES <br /> SAFETY COMMITTEE <br /> May 7,2014 <br /> 8:30 AM <br /> PRESENT: Sandy Peine, City Clerk; Mike Loven, Public Works Supervisor; Chad <br /> Turcotte, Police Sergeant; and Dawn Bittner, Safety Secretary. <br /> ABSENT: Tom Nelson, Fire Chief; Eric Klang, Police Chief; and Dave Sjoblad, Council <br /> Liaison. <br /> 1. Review of Minutes: <br /> A motion was made by Mike Loven, seconded by Sandy Peine, to approve the March 6, <br /> 2014 Minutes, as read. All members voted "aye". Motion carried. <br /> 2. Online Safety Training: <br /> Mike Loven and Sandy Peine had attended a Safety and Loss Control Meeting through <br /> the LMC and provided an information sheet outlining online safety training for LMCIT <br /> members. <br /> 3. Emergency Operations Plan—Wellhead Protection Update: <br /> Dawn Bittner reported that the Department of Health would like more information <br /> regarding water supply emergency planning included as the Emergency Operations Plan <br /> is updated. She will incorporate the new information into the draft and provide to the <br /> Safety Committee at a future date. <br /> 4. Accident Review: <br /> • March 2—Police Department; Reserve Officer backed city vehicle into a tree. It <br /> was preventable. Have a ground guide. <br /> • March 6—Public Works Department; Employee backed city vehicle into another <br /> vehicle as it was backing up. It was preventable. Be more alert. <br /> • April 2—Fire Department; Fire Fighter was driving personal vehicle on errand for <br /> fire meeting; another vehicle ran a red light striking personal vehicle. It was not <br /> preventable. <br /> • April 29—Police Department; Police Officer hit a deer responding to a call. It <br /> was preventable. Officer was looking at map and passenger saw the deer. <br /> The Safety Committee requested Mark Jurchen be invited to an upcoming meeting to <br /> explain coverage when using a personal vehicle instead of using a city vehicle. <br /> 1 <br />
