Officers have been planning strategy for what to do for replacing our aging fleet of
vehicles. We know we cannot lower our ISO rating for rural areas until we have
ability to flow 3000 gallons per minute. This can only be achieved by adding
another pump engine of at least 1000 gallon per minute pump capacity. To
accomplish that, we plan to pay our loan for Engine 1 and purchase another engine.
Our payments for this would probably be similar to our present budget and no real
change would occur. We also need to plan what to do with an aging rescue van,
brush truck, and water tender. One solution would be to purchase a used mini pump
apparatus of some type to replace all three vehicles. These ideas are only plans yet,
but have to be resolved at some point in time.
11. The 800 mega hertz radio plan will be happening soon. Cass County has started
replacing radios for the County sheriff and some fire departments. Crow Wing
County will start soon with County sheriff deputies, police departments, and fire
departments. Our cost should be about $12,000.00 costs could be lower if any grants
were awarded.
12. Review the annual fire call report for 2011, questions and answers
13. Fire budget for 2012 review
14. Fire department officers think we need a minimum fire contract rate for all our
contracted areas. This plan could lower per hour billing rates. Any thoughts from
fire board members. Minimum rate could be $2200.00 to 2500.00 per year.
This would affect Moose Lake and Poplar Township.
15. Any other new business, questions, thoughts from anyone
16. Next meeting April 27 at 7 pm at Pequot Lakes fire station
17. Adjourn meeting
