City AGENDA ITEM #9.3
Pett \
Lakes:
REPORT TO
CITY COUNCIL
Report Prepared by: Sandy Peine, City Clerk
Date: June 2, 2015
Subject: Sibley Lake Park Steps
Report: Members of the Sibley Lake Association appeared before the
Park Commission and requested the Commission to consider removing the
steps to Sibley Lake. They explained that Sibley Lake has been placed on an
impaired status because of the water quality. Part of the problem is erosion
and nutrients going into the lake some of which is caused by the run off by
the steps. The Lake Association would like to work with the City to come up
with a project and then research possible grant funding to complete the
project. Mark Jurchen, Sibley Lake Association Member, stated that the Park
Commission needs to develop a plan before the Lake Association could
apply for a grant. He suggested that the plan would be to remove the steps
and re-vegetate the area.
The Park Commission unanimously voted to recommend that the Council
authorize the Commission to begin working on a plan to remove the steps
and re-vegetate the area and then work with the Lake Association on
possible funding for the project through grants.
Council Action Requested: Council motion authorizing the Park
Commission to develop a plan to remove the steps at Sibley Lake Park, re-
vegetate the area, and work with the Lake Association on possible funding
for the project through grants.
