PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 6, 2013 MEETING The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 21 members were present at our meeting or at fire fighter II classes.. The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Larson, second by Hayes, motion passed. Truck & equipment checks were discussed. All trucks checked good. Some minor issues were the extinguishers on E 2 were outdated, a couple tail lights on E2 were burned out, the shaft seal on the pump on T 2 needs to be lubed, and there was some antifreeze on the frame of R2 which could be some type of leak. The financial report listed our new checking balance at $10,011.57 at the end of January. The scholarship fund balance is $1623.64. The fire budget is at $111,384.34. Evenson motioned to approve the financials, second by Hayes, motion passed. For correspondence, we received a note from Kevin Wendt asking for a leave of absence effective February 1" with no time frame. Loven motioned to approve his request, second by Larson, motion passed. Chief Nelson wants to work on new hiring procedures which may help screen out future problems with new personal. The Chief asked everyone to take pride in the fire department's facility and keep stuff neat and clean with all the junk picked up and organized. Always help clean when you are here and our place will look good. Under old business text paging should not be very far off. All our numbers have been submitted. Our pagers need to be reprogrammed by the end of the month to the new frequency. After the reprogramming fire pages will come off all the County's towers simultaneously. Our winter party will be this Friday at Billy's Bar & Grill with social hour at 6:00 pm and dinner at 7:00 pm. There are several spring sectional schools if anyone is interested in taking classes. Let the Chief now so he can reserve your choice. The dishwasher in our kitchen is bad and needs to be replaced. The cost should be $300.00 or less. The majority favored getting a new dishwasher. We need a pressure washer at the Breezy station. Prices and options will be reviewed.
