AGENDA ITEM # 8.3

REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL

Report Prepared by: Mike Davis, PLPD Chief

Date: April 1, 2024

Subject: Officer Recognition

Report: On March 23, 2024, Officer Melin and Reserve Officer Clemmer
came across a vehicle that had a blown trailer tire. Officers spoke with the driver
who advised they did not need any assistance as they had a new tire. Officers
checked on the vehicle about an hour later and the driver and his wife were still
working on getting the rim off. Officer Melin was able to get the bearing spindle
and rim off the trailer. Officers left the scene with the rim and new tire and went to
Pequot Auto where Officer Melin was able to get the spindle pressed out with a
hydraulic press. Once that was done, he mounted the new tire on the rim and
returned to the scene where he and Reserve Officer Clemmer mounted the new tire
and rim on the trailer. Officer Melin went above and beyond his normal everyday
duties and was able to safely get the couple back on the road.

Council Action Requested: No council action requested.
