AGENDA ITEM # 10.1

REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL

Report Prepared by: Emily Johnson

Date: April 1, 2024

Subject: Administration Report

Report: It has been a whirlwind of a few weeks since our last meeting. Training
continues and the Administration Staff have been busy and running in different
directions it seems.

• Julie has learned so much this past month and is a huge asset to our office. She
has recently taken on the role of keeping the Park Board minutes and has been
able to contribute some fantastic things for them. Most recently, she designed a
flyer to draw community attention to the potential of starting community
gardens.
• As reported last month, the transition of the Fire District remains ongoing. We
have initiated the process of getting the Fire District’s financial software,
however, there have been no progress updates since then.
• The Police Department remodel is nearly complete. The carpet guys were in to
install the finishing touches and we are down to minor adjustments and clean -
up. We will soon be coordinating a date with our IT Support personnel to begin
the “big move” of the Police Department from the second floor to their new
space on the main level.
• Angie and Emily are still working with the auditors, getting all requested items
to them as they chip away at our 2023 audit.
• Both Angie and Emily were able to attend the 2024 MCFOA Conference in St.
Cloud. Some of the classes attended were Records Management and Data
Practices, Payroll, Liquor Licensing Essentials, Zoning and more. Both came
back with many notes and new information to investigate and incorporate into
our routines.

Council Action Requested: No Council action requested.
