AGENDA ITEM # 10.1

REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL

Report Prepared by: Emily Johnson

Date: February 5, 2024

Subject: Administration Report

Report: Administration has continued to be a busy department over the past
month, but with the great personnel that we currently have, we manage to keep
things moving pretty well.

• Training with staff has been ongoing as everyone is getting comfortable in
their positions and duties. We are anxiously awaiting our fourth teammate to
join us in Administration.
• We have begun implementing some of our existing electronic tools
including time reporting and accounts payable allocations/coding with our
MiPay and MiViewPoint programs that work hand in hand with our
financial software. It will be a bit of a transition to get everything converted
over, but we are happy to have started the process of moving to a
modernized approach.
• A discussion was had regarding the Fire District and their transition to
Breezy Point as their new fiscal agent. This will likely be an ongoing
conversation until the transition is complete.
• Year-end processes and reporting are in full force and will be an ongoing
process over the next several weeks.
• With intentions of alleviating any security risks/violations regarding access
to restricted areas/computers within the police department, we opted for all
staff to go through backgrounding and fingerprinting through the BCA. We
are happy to report that all current employees’ backgrounds and security
awareness training have been completed.

Council Action Requested: No Council action requested.
