I do not think I have met either of you but I am Matt Kallroos, Transportation Planner for Crow Wing County. I wanted to let you know that the City of Breezy Point will be applying for the Transportation Alternatives grant which is a competitive grant opportunity for local communities and regional agencies to fund projects for pedestrian and bicycle facilities, historic preservation, Safe Routes to School and more. Grant information can be found here: Transportation Alternatives - Transportation Alternatives - Minnesota Department of Transportation (state.mn.us) Breezy Point passed a resolution to apply for a trail on CSAH 11 and Crow Wing County will be writing the grant as well as sponsoring the project because Breezy Point is not a state aid city (population over 5,000). The proposed trail has been broken into roughly 4 segments due to the size and cost of the overall project and the first segment that was identified runs from the CSAH 4/CSAH 11 intersection to Ranchette Drive (see attached map). For this grant, only the first segment is being applied for. Due to the recent SRTS (Safe Routes to School) Plan update and the importance of this trail connecting the cities of Breezy Point and Pequot Lakes I wanted to ask if Pequot Lakes would be willing to offer a letter of support for the proposed trail segment. Lastly, could we schedule a quick meeting so I can explain this in greater detail as we seek to ensure that Pequot Lakes is willing to come to the table once the trail crosses the city lines by Eagleview Elementary School.
