Angie Duus
From: Matt Kallroos <Matt.Kallroos@crowwing.us>
Sent: Thursday, December 14, 2023 10:57 AM
To: Angie Duus; Tracy Gustafson
Subject: CSAH 11 Trail
Attachments: Phase 1 CSAH 11 Trail.png; CSAH 11 Trail Overview.png
Good morning!
I do not think I have met either of you but I am Matt Kallroos, Transportation Planner for Crow Wing County. I wanted to
let you know that the City of Breezy Point will be applying for the Transportation Alternatives grant which is a
competitive grant opportunity for local communities and regional agencies to fund projects for pedestrian and bicycle
facilities, historic preservation, Safe Routes to School and more.
Grant information can be found here: Transportation Alternatives - Transportation Alternatives - Minnesota Department
of Transportation (state.mn.us)
Breezy Point passed a resolution to apply for a trail on CSAH 11 and Crow Wing County will be writing the grant as well
as sponsoring the project because Breezy Point is not a state aid city (population over 5,000). The proposed trail has
been broken into roughly 4 segments due to the size and cost of the overall project and the first segment that was
identified runs from the CSAH 4/CSAH 11 intersection to Ranchette Drive (see attached map). For this grant, only the
first segment is being applied for.
Due to the recent SRTS (Safe Routes to School) Plan update and the importance of this trail connecting the cities of
Breezy Point and Pequot Lakes I wanted to ask if Pequot Lakes would be willing to offer a letter of support for the
proposed trail segment.
Lastly, could we schedule a quick meeting so I can explain this in greater detail as we seek to ensure that Pequot Lakes is
willing to come to the table once the trail crosses the city lines by Eagleview Elementary School. (see attached map of
the entire trail proposed)
Let me know if you have any questions, thanks!
Matt Kallroos
Transportation Planner
Office: (218)824-1110
Direct: (218)822-2694
www.crowwing.us
Crow Wing County Highway Department
16589 County Road 142
Brainerd, MN 56401
We value your opinion, please let us know how we are doing by taking our Customer Service Survey.
Our Vision: Being Minnesota's favorite place.
Our Mission: Serve well.
