Sibley Lake Park Steps

Discussion was held regarding the poor repair of the steps at Sibley Lake
Park. Chair Clement stated that the Sibley Lake Association is willing to
donate man power to help repair the steps. Discussion was held regarding
the poor condition of the steps and that they may be a liability to the City.
The process to repair or replace the steps was discussed. It was the
consensus to request the Zoning Administrator to explain in writing exactly
what could be done to repair or replace the steps. It was also the
consensus to get some ideas from landscapers after the Zoning
Administrator presents the options. The Commission noted that a project
like this would be expensive. The Commission decided to gather
information and present it to the Council.

4. Mayo Lake Park

Mayor Adams stated that she has met with representatives of the
property. She noted that there are restrictions on the property requiring
that the property is owned by one owner. The Mayor also noted that a
large portion of the property is located in Cass County. After checking with
the City Attorney, it has been found that the City can own land outside of
its jurisdiction. The Park Commission discussed the merit of acquiring the
land. The Park Commission consented that the property could be used as
a rustic park for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

COMMISSIONER BRUCH MOVED TO RECOMMEND THAT THE CITY
ACCEPT THE LAND FOR USE AS A RUSTIC PARK.
