The Council requested Mike Loven to look at a different style of <br /> lighting for the water tower. <br /> • Personnel Committee and Job Evaluation Committee — Nancy Malecha <br /> explained the difference between the two committees. <br /> • Planning and Zoning — Dawn Bittner reviewed current projects and mid <br /> and long-range projects. The Council discussed the difference in duties <br /> between a Planner and Zoning Administrator. As the Zoning Administrator <br /> Dawn handles enforcement violations for the City. <br /> • Police — Council Member Pederson stated that the Chief of Police is the <br /> only exempt position in the City. The Chief is the ambassador and PR <br /> person representing the department. Sergeant Turcotte stated that the <br /> department is working at getting all officers trained as First Responder or <br /> EMT certified. The Department is working at streamlining report <br /> submissions. <br /> • Safety Committee—A safety committee is required by OSHA standards. <br /> The City has its own safety committee and belongs to a regional safety <br /> group where OSHA required training is provided. <br /> • School Liaison — Mayor Sjoblad has met with the School Superintendent <br /> and discussed the idea of land for ball fields. There is land located by the <br /> Methodist Church which will be acquired by MnDOT because of the <br /> Highway 371 project. Mayor Sjoblad would like to see MnDOT give this <br /> property to the school for use as ball fields. <br /> • Public Works — Mike Loven talked about the Installation of a playground <br /> and restrooms at Trailside Park in 2015. There have been many meetings <br /> and decisions to be made regarding road turnbacks relating to the <br /> Highway 371 project. The roads turned back to the City will affect the <br /> street department. The City's spray irrigation field will be split in two with <br /> the Highway 371 project. Dave Sjoblad and Tim Houle gave an update on <br /> the row irrigation method that the City is currently considering. Mayor <br /> Sjoblad stated he wants to see a roundabout at CR 11 and Highway 371. <br /> Discussion on the City's wastewater and water systems. They are <br /> currently run by PRASD which is working well for the City. <br /> Weed Inspector— Mike Loven is the City's weed inspector. This position is <br /> required by state law. <br /> Wellness Committee — Nancy Malecha reviewed the goals, current <br /> projects and mid to long-range plans for the Committee.
