PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> MINUTES MARCH 4,2015 MEETING <br /> The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson,26 members were present. <br /> The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a motion by Evenson,second by Bryant <br /> Szymanski,motion passed. <br /> Truck&equipment checks were discussed. Engine 1 was missing 2 tarps, ladder access door latch <br /> needs to be replaced,and the water level was two feet low in the tank.Engine 2's gas monitor <br /> needs to be repaired;everything else is OK. Engine 3 was OK.Tankers 1,2,&3 were all good. <br /> Rescue 1 needs new wiper blades.Grass 1,the four wheeler,and the trailer were all good. <br /> The relief valve for the air tank filling compressor needs to be replaced.The job will be done as <br /> quickly as feasible. <br /> The financial report is our new balance tonight is$$15,554.14.The fire budget balance is <br /> $109,422.79.The annual insurance premium was paid which lowered our balance considerably. <br /> Lang motioned to approve the report,second by Nordby,motion passed. <br /> Jake, Ian,Travis J.&Travis A. passed Fire Fighter I&II classes.Congrats to all. <br /> Pequot Lakes High School Administrator Chip Rankin informed our Department we will not need to <br /> do our auto extrication and alcohol awareness demonstration before prom this spring. <br /> The City Council has approved our request to move forward with our proposed Explorer Program. <br /> We could use 5 people in the 16 to 21 year age bracket.We would establish a separate training <br /> program for them.We will also equip them with protective gear which will not need to be the same <br /> class as our turnout gear.This program has been very successful across the country.We will need <br /> volunteers to help establish the program.There will be an informal meeting Thursday,March 12th at <br /> 6:30 pm with the lady from the Boy Scouts organization that coordinates the Explorer program. <br /> Anyone who can help should attend this meeting. <br /> The Breezy Point Polar Plunge will take place Saturday March 7th at Pelican Lake. Evenson&Jacobus <br /> volunteered to help. <br /> Everyone needs to complete the online Bloodborne training class by the end of March.The website <br /> is"saferesponse.com".Contact Tom if you need help. <br /> A new training schedule for the remainder of 2015 has been completed for in house and Fire Inc. <br /> training. Everyone was given a copy.March training will be at the old Edgewater Inn on County <br /> Road 4 south of the Breezy Point Resort entrance.The live structure burn for this building is <br /> planned for Saturday,April 25th at 8:00 am.Some other organizations want to use the building for <br /> training also. <br /> The advanced driver training course at St.Cloud School of Driving is planned for Saturday April 4th& <br /> the 18"'. Peterson I, Peterson II,and Dean Arnold are scheduled to take the class Saturday,March <br /> 7m. <br /> Crosslake's St. Patrick's Day parade will be held Saturday March 14`x'at 2:00 pm.We need a <br /> volunteer to take Engine 1 to the parade. <br />
