City Council Minutes <br />November 6,2023 <br />Page 6 of I <br />Tim Houle updates Council Members on the study of Main/Front Street. ln 2021 il <br />was proposed to study that stretch of road, Council approved it at that time, but it <br />was delayed at Council's request. Meanwhile, a developer has come in inquiring <br />about the NW area for mmmercial use. He states it is a large area but trying to <br />break that up would be less beneficial. He said at this point they are looking at it <br />from a high point level but soon the developers are going lo be looking to have <br />the information. <br />He then stated that it would make sense to add on the FronuMain Street area <br />and complete it in conjunction with the Northwest Area. <br />Council Member Ronning states he is concerned about how much money would <br />be spent on this project and believes the forcemain project is the lead the project. <br />Mr. Spiczka responded stating the TIF projects have a huge tumaround in <br />comparison. <br />COUNCIL MEIT,IBER PEOERSON MOVED TO APROVE THE STUDY OF THE <br />NORTHWEST AREA AND MAIN STREETS. COUNCIL IIIEMBER SIELS <br />SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4.0. <br />Mr. Tim Houle gives a summary of the City's history with the cunent forcemain. <br />He stated there have been a few breaks and it is getting up there in age. He said <br />they did do a study to get the city eligible for funding and the city was approved <br />for a grant. He also said the city does qualify for a low interest loan to provide <br />other funding for the project. Widseth drafted a proposal that is included in the <br />packet for Council review, with all the necessary steps and the estimated cost of <br />the project. Mr. Spiczka also said this is all enterprise funding and would not <br />affect a tax levy. <br />Council Member Pederson asked how long it as expected to last. Mr. Houle states <br />sixty years, which is what the current system is at. The new materials would be <br />projected to last approximately 100 years. <br />COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO APPROVE THE DESIGN AND <br />CONSTRUCTION OF THE WASTEWATER FORCEMAIN PROJECT, COUNCIL <br />MEMBER PEDERSON SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4.0. <br />10. Administration <br />10.1 . Administration Report <br />The October Administration report is attached for Council review. Council <br />Members asked for follow-up on where things are cunently at with the Corners <br />Lots and the Hotel Parcel to confirm the loose ends have been tied up before the <br />next meeting. <br />9.4.
