CHIEF 1 <br /> Requirements <br /> • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: <br /> • Minimum of 7 years on the Pequot Lakes Fire Department <br /> • Firefighter 2 certification <br /> • Safety Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Accountability class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • 1st Arriving Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Incident command class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Leadership 1 class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Leadership 2 class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Leadership 3 class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> • Fire Officer class from accredited sectional school or equivalent <br /> Job Description <br /> • Same as basic firefighter plus the following: <br /> • Takes operations at emergency scenes and/or incidents (operations)when in the officer's seat <br /> • Supervises operation of apparatus by others when officer on scene <br /> • Serves as a project team leader at drills, fire prevention and other depai tmental operations <br /> • Adheres to a high code of conduct, displays a professional attitude and image not only while on duty but also in <br /> personal life while serving as a department officer <br /> • Conveys and transmits information verbally or in written form in a clear, concise and appropriate manner <br /> • Oversees all operations on scenes as officer in charge. <br /> • Ultimately responsible for safety and security of fire personnel on all scenes. <br /> • Updates and maintains personnel information,maintenance information, equipment information on the <br /> computer as required by state guidelines <br /> • Formulates and implements polices and procedures necessary to the operation of the department <br /> • Ensures that equipment, safety clothing, apparatus, communications equipment, supplies are specified, <br /> purchased,received and distributed in an effective manner and consistent with City policy. <br /> • Allocates, directs,motivates and evaluates departmental personnel to help all areas function to the highest levels <br /> • Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, <br /> creativity and teamwork <br /> • Works with training officers to schedule training sessions <br /> • Attends monthly officers meetings <br /> • Attends monthly staff meetings with Pequot Lakes City Employees <br /> • Attends monthly city council meetings (1st Tuesday of each month) <br /> • Attends regular budget meetings with city clerk <br /> • Attends quarterly fire board meetings <br /> • Prepares realistic and fiscally sound annual budgets to enable the department to achieve it's objectives and <br /> ensures that the department functions within it's allocated budget <br /> • Establishes and maintains open relationships with all fire depai Invent personnel. Communicates openly with all <br /> fire depai tnient personnel <br /> • Effectively applies the incident command system at all types of incidents <br /> • Provides leadership,counsel,motivation, supervision and support to the firefighters during operations under <br /> extreme conditions <br /> • Is able to delegate duties to officers as needed <br />
