AGENDA ITEM # 8.4

REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL

Report Prepared by: Mike Davis, PLPD Chief

Date: November 6th, 2023

Subject: Request preliminary approval to order new squad

Report: In the last couple of years when ordering a squad car, it has taken
between 8-11 months to receive the new vehicle. This does not include the time
that it takes to outfit it (this is about 2 weeks). Currently Chrysler Corporation
seems to have the fastest turn around when ordering emergency vehicles. Other
law enforcement agencies are switching from Fords and Chevy’s to Dodges due to
the longer wait times. With these other agencies changing over to Dodge this
could have an impact on the time frame we are currently seeing.

Council Action Requested: Council approval to order a new squad vehicle.
