MONTHLY STAFF REPORT City Clerk's Office November, 2008 Meetings City Council Meetings The Council held one Council meeting in October. At that meeting, the following action was taken by the Council: • Certified delinquent accounts to taxes • Certification of General Election results for Council races • Established a building fund for the library expansion • Support of a Shoreland Buffer Grant • Adopted a student internship program • Reimbursement to two water and sewer customers for overcharging • Renewed police contract with Jenkins Township • Renewed police contract with the City of Jenkins • Adopted an identity theft program • Granted employees a step increase plus 2.5% cost of living increase for 2009 • Amended personnel policy • Granted employees an additional $5,000 of life insurance • Amended the City's travel and expense policy • Closed City Clerk's office on November 28th • Approved a lease agreement between the City of Pequot Lakes and the Pequot Lakes Historical Society for the lease of the basement of the Cole Memorial Building • Directed the Park Commission to research possible uses of the main floor of the Cole Memorial Building • Authorized the installation of a street light at the intersection of Brown Street and South Oak Street • Authorized the Attorney to draft an agreement with.Mr. Babinski for ROW acquisition in association with the South Oak Street Project Park Board The Park Board met on November 13th. The minutes are attached for your review. Economic Development Committee The EDC met on November 18th. See attached minutes. The main focus of the meeting was a presentation from the Chamber of Commerce on services provided. Projects Budgets—2009 • The City staff presented the Council with budget amendments which reduced the preliminary tax levy. The Council will hold a Truth In Taxation Hearing on December 1st. Due to our low levy increase, the City would not be required to
