MONTHLY STAFF REPORT <br /> City Clerk's Office <br /> November, 2008 <br /> Meetings <br /> City Council Meetings <br /> The Council held one Council meeting in October. At that meeting, the following action <br /> was taken by the Council: <br /> • Certified delinquent accounts to taxes <br /> • Certification of General Election results for Council races <br /> • Established a building fund for the library expansion <br /> • Support of a Shoreland Buffer Grant <br /> • Adopted a student internship program <br /> • Reimbursement to two water and sewer customers for overcharging <br /> • Renewed police contract with Jenkins Township <br /> • Renewed police contract with the City of Jenkins <br /> • Adopted an identity theft program <br /> • Granted employees a step increase plus 2.5% cost of living increase for 2009 <br /> • Amended personnel policy <br /> • Granted employees an additional $5,000 of life insurance <br /> • Amended the City's travel and expense policy <br /> • Closed City Clerk's office on November 28th <br /> • Approved a lease agreement between the City of Pequot Lakes and the Pequot <br /> Lakes Historical Society for the lease of the basement of the Cole Memorial <br /> Building <br /> • Directed the Park Commission to research possible uses of the main floor of the <br /> Cole Memorial Building <br /> • Authorized the installation of a street light at the intersection of Brown Street and <br /> South Oak Street <br /> • Authorized the Attorney to draft an agreement with.Mr. Babinski for ROW <br /> acquisition in association with the South Oak Street Project <br /> Park Board <br /> The Park Board met on November 13th. The minutes are attached for your review. <br /> Economic Development Committee <br /> The EDC met on November 18th. See attached minutes. The main focus of the meeting <br /> was a presentation from the Chamber of Commerce on services provided. <br /> Projects <br /> Budgets—2009 <br /> • The City staff presented the Council with budget amendments which reduced the <br /> preliminary tax levy. The Council will hold a Truth In Taxation Hearing on <br /> December 1st. Due to our low levy increase, the City would not be required to <br />
