Pequot Lakes Police Monthly Report
August 2023: During the month of August (1n-31n),the Pequot Lakes Police Department has a
record of 430 calls for service. Call types include but are not limited to:
• Theft
• EMS
• Damage to Property
• Domestic
• Driving Complaint
• Abandoned vehicle
• Animal complaint
• Personal Injury Accident
• Property Damage Accident
• Suspicious Activity/Person/Vehicle
• Welfare Check
• Disturbance
Notable Calls:
On 8/14/23 Pequot officers assisted Breezy Point Pd with a disturbance where the suspect
brandished a firearm at the complainant. The male suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. A short
time later, the suspect vehicle was located by Nisswa PD turning onto CR 29 from Hwy 371. The
Nisswa officer followed the suspect vehicle into Cass Co and waited for back up officers to
arrive before making a stop on the vehicle. A felony stop was conducted (by the Nisswa Sgt,
Nisswa Chief and Pequot Chief) on the vehicle and the male was taken into custody without
incident.
On 8/19/23 Officer Hopps witnessed a motorcycle run a red light at the intersection of Hwy 371
and Co Rd 16. Officer Hopps caught up to the motorcycle and made an attempt to stop it. The
motorcycle (with two riders)sped up and fled Officer Hopps. The driver of the bike reached
speeds up to 112 mph. After getting the license plate Officer Hopps terminated the pursuit due
to safety concerns with the amount of traffic on the highway. Officer Hopps later learned the
identity of the driver and found out that he had 29 warrants out of Wisconsin to include several
felony warrants. A report was filed with the county attorney's office and a warrant will be
issued.
