WHY IS THIS RELEVANT? <br /> This is one of the main intersections for students crossing Patriot Ave to and from school. <br /> WHO WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN? <br /> City and school staff,with funding from MnDOT. <br /> HOW WILL THIS ADDRESS EQUITY? <br /> Improving conditions along this route makes walking and rolling easier and safer for people with disabilities.This <br /> intersection is also a key crossing to school for lower-income families and students. <br /> Goal 9: Installation of Rapid Flashing Beacons <br /> PRIORITY: High <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Consider installing Rapid Flashing Beacons at certain intersections or crossings as this will get more kids outside <br /> walking before school and getting active with the potential of encouraging more kids to walk to school. <br /> WHY IS THIS RELEVANT? <br /> This would potentially improve safety at several intersections. <br /> WHO WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN? <br /> City and school staff,with funding from MnDOT. <br /> HOW WILL THIS ADDRESS EQUITY? <br /> Improving crossing safety would potentially make walking and rolling safer for people with disabilities.This <br /> intersection is also a key crossing to school for lower-income families and students. <br /> ENGAGEMENT <br /> All Safe Routes to School initiatives should begin by listening to parents, students, <br /> teachers, and school leaders and seek to work with community organizations, to build <br /> intentional, ongoing engagement opportunities into the program structure. <br /> Goal 1: Consider developing a walking school bus program that would include local <br /> PTA and school staff enabling local, vetted/verified/certified adults to walk or bike <br /> along with students along clearly identified route. <br /> PRIORITY: Low <br /> RECOMMENDATION <br /> Consider developing a walking school bus program that would include local PTA and school staff. <br /> WHY IS THIS RELEVANT? <br /> This will get more kids outside walking before school and getting active with the potential of encouraging more <br /> kids to walk to school. <br /> WHO WILL MAKE THIS HAPPEN? <br /> School staff,and volunteers. <br /> 27 I Minnesota Safe Routes to School <br />
