MONTHLY STAFF REPORT City Clerk's Office October,2008 Meetings City Council Meetings The Council held one Council meeting in October. At that meeting,the following action was taken by the Council: • Approved Labor Agreement(Police Union No. 346) • Adopted a resolution to redeem the outstanding G.O. Improvement Bonds for the Industrial Park Project • Tabled action on the Jenkins Township annexation • Adopted an ordinance relating to disconnect procedures for water • Amended the vehicle policy • Entered into an agreement for the Safe and Sober project • Accepted a three-year audit quote with LarsonAllen • Accepted resignation of Sharon Thurlow and Jim Thurlow • Approved 2009 health insurance plans with HealthPartners to include an HSA Plan • Adopted a resolution accepting public improvements in the Trailside Estates Plat Park Board The Park Board met on October 9th. The minutes are attached for your review. Economic Development Committee The EDC met on October 21St. See attached minutes. The EDC focused on the Downtown Plan. A committee has been formed to research ideas that will help in the implementation of the plan. When the committee has completed its research it will present the information first to the EDC and then to the City Council. The goal of the EDC is to receive a concept approval of the plan from the Council. Safety Meeting The monthly staff safety meeting was held on October 9th. See attached minutes. Hearing tests were offered for all employees as part of the safety program. Projects Budgets—2009 • The City staff presented the Council with budget amendments which reduced the preliminary tax levy. Elections • The Clerk's office is preparing for the General Election in November. Public accuracy testing of the voting equipment took place on October 30th.
