MEETING OF THE PEQUOT LAKES <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION <br /> TUESDAY, MAY 17, 2022 <br /> Members Present: Chair Lottman Commissioners Holley, Lelwica, Lubke, and <br /> Rieck <br /> Members Absent: Commissioner Becklin and Hallan <br /> Others Present: Angie Duus, City Clerk/Treasurer; Tyler Glynn, BLAEDC; Kurt <br /> Stumpf, Pequot Lakes School District Superintendent; Mark <br /> Jurchen <br /> 1. Call Meeting to Order <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chair Lottman at 8:00 a.m. <br /> 2. Consider Agenda <br /> COMMISSIONER LELWICA MOVED TO APPROVE THE AGENDA AS <br /> PRESENTED. COMMISSIONER HOLLEY SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION <br /> CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 3. Approve EDC Minutes <br /> COMMISSIONER LELWICA MOVED TO APPROVE THE APRIL 19, <br /> 2022, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION MINUTES AS <br /> PRESENTED. COMMISSIONER HOLLEY SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 4. School Update <br /> Kurt Stumpf informed the EDC that they changed some early childhood <br /> programing. They expanded their three-year-old program with the help of a <br /> new funding source, and they are full but adding more sections. He said the <br /> Patriot Academy is kindergartner program they added for the following year <br /> which local daycares were promoting since they were full. He stated that <br /> they have seen earlier enrollment than they have in previous years. Mr. <br /> Stumpf informed the EDC that the Facility Study will begin in a week and <br /> the Safe Routes to School will begin in June. He stated the study should <br /> take six to seven months and it includes current status of HVAC, buildings, <br /> grounds, blacktop and where they will be in ten years. Discussion ensued <br /> about demographics and growth of the area. <br /> 5. Workforce Housing Update <br /> A. Contractor Update <br /> Mark Jurchen updated the contractors about what is trying to be done in the city <br /> relating to housing. He explained the City is in need of multi-family homes, <br /> apartments, single family dwellings and affordable housing. He said the ADU's <br /> have been discussed at EDC and Planning and Zoning meetings. He stated an <br /> inventory of vacant and buildable lots have been identified within the city and <br />
