MINUTES <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> OCTOBER 16,2008 <br /> PRESENT: Bill Habein, Tom Adams, Mark Hallan, Scott Pederson, Dean Williams, <br /> Tom Woog and Mary Peterson. ABSENT: John Derksen. <br /> CITY PLANNER: Charles Marohn, PE. <br /> ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Dawn Bittner. <br /> COUNCIL LIAISONS: Tom Ryan. <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Woog at 6:31 p.m. <br /> Chairman Woog opened the public hearing. <br /> APPLICANT: Tanya McDermott <br /> Applicant requests a Conditional Use Permit to operate an orthodontic clinic in the <br /> Downtown Mixed Use District. <br /> Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report. Based on the Findings of Fact, Staff <br /> recommends approval. Applicant was present. There would be complete demolition of <br /> the building and a portion of the foundation would be used. This meets all of our <br /> foundation requirements. <br /> A power pole is used as benchmark is located in the parking area. Will the power pole <br /> remain with the meter in the parking lot? Mr. Marohn stated that the assumption is that <br /> the pole would be removed, services would be underground, and the meter would be <br /> placed on the building. Applicant proposes off street parking. The intersection is very <br /> busy with school traffic both in the mornings and afternoons. The Street Department is <br /> comfortable with the two entrances for the parking area. <br /> Water and sanitary sewer was discussed. A pressure tank or a larger line for sanitary <br /> sewer may be necessary. <br /> This would be the only use on the site, no multiple uses. The design is very well done <br /> with parking behind the building. It is attractive to put the building and landscaping <br /> along the street.
