City Council Minutes <br /> June 5, 2023 <br /> Page 4 of 6 <br /> The Council recognized Police Office Johnson per staff report and Sergeant <br /> Ryan Franz for the attached letter from Linda Ehlenfeldt with Lakes Area <br /> Restorative Justice Project. <br /> 8.3. Request to Hire Two Full-Time Police Officers <br /> Police Chief Mike Davis presented the staff report. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO HIRE JOHN HOPPS AND <br /> PARKER MOANS AS A FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICERS PENDING <br /> COMPLETION OF BACKGROUND CHECKS, TESTS AND EVALUATIONS <br /> BROUGHT FORTH BY THE DEPARTMENT. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 8.4. ARPA Funds <br /> Police Chief Mike Davis presented the staff report. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO APPROVE DESIGNATING $7,071 OF <br /> ARPA FUNDS TO UPGRADE PANASONIC SOFTWARE. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> Mr. Spiczka presented the staff report. <br /> 9.2. Builders FirstSource <br /> Mr. Spiczka stated that Builders FirstSource was upset with not having the ability <br /> to utilize the parking lot at Trailside Park to unload their trucks. Mr. Spiczka <br /> stated the Builders FirstSource has intentions of building an entrance into their <br /> gated area off Patriot Avenue near Front Street. Mr. Spiczka stated staff will be <br /> installing signage in the lot for Park patrons only. <br /> 9.3 Patriot Avenue Redesign <br /> Tim Houle gave an overview of the plan presented in the staff report. Mr. Houle <br /> stated the city will be partnering with Crow Wing County to chip seal for Patriot <br /> Avenue which requires a striping plan be submitted to the County. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO APPROVE WIDSETH'S PROPOSAL <br /> FOR CHIP SEALING AND STRIPING PATRIOT AVENUE. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> CLEMENT SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS MOVED TO ALLOW STAFF TO BUILD THE <br /> PARKING AREA UP WITH CLASS 5 AT TRAILSIDE PARK ON THE EAST <br />
