City Council Minutes November 6, 2008 Page 2 of 9 3.6. CERTIFICATION OF DELINQUENT ACCOUNTS TO TAXES FOR COLLECTION COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 4. Open Forum No one appeared for Open Forum. 5.1. Board of Canvass The Clerk presented a resolution of canvass. She stated that the council and mayoral election results are noted in the resolution. COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO ADOPT RESOLUTION 08-34 CANVASSING AND CERTIFYING THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008, MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS FOR THE CITY OF PEQUOT LAKES. COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 5.1.A. Check Register to Pay Election Judges COUNCIL MEMBER RYAN MOVED TO APPROVE THE CHECK REGISTER TO PAY THE ELECTION JUDGES. COUNCIL MEMBER ORASKOVICH SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 3-0. 5.2. Library Board Discussion on Library Expansion Nancy Adams of the Library Board briefly updated the Council on the expansion process. She noted that the expansion committee has researched the possibility of buying land but have ruled out the possibility because of the expense. The committee is now recommending an expansion of the back room of the existing City Hall. The Library Board is requesting authorization from the Council to begin fund raising for the building expansion with a goal of$150,000. Ms. Adams noted that there is a building in town that they would like to purchase, however, the cost is prohibitive. She noted that the only drawback with expanding the existing City Hall is that there would be no space for a meeting room. Council Member Oraskovich stated that he is on the committee. He noted that the committee is requesting to start a building fund that is dedicated to the library expansion. Council Member Oraskovich commended John Longnecker for the time he has put into the process.
