City of
Pequot
Lakes_
Water/Wastewater Report — May 2023
Water Department Flows:
Average Daily Gallons Pumped: 110,000 gallons
Total Monthly Gallons Pumped: 3,204,000 gallons
Wastewater Department Flows:
Average Daily Flow: 69,539 gallons (Design: 121,795 GPD)
Total Monthly Flow: 2,086,181 gallons
Operations Report
Pequot Lakes:
• Daily water treatment plant and wastewater collection system inspections were completed.
• Wastewater pond and lift station checks were completed periodically, and lift station
monthly preventative maintenance was performed on 5/8.
• Weekly water testing for MDH was completed.
• Water meters were read on 5/25 and 5/27.
• All regulatory reporting was completed—MDH Fluoride Report and MPCA DMR on 5/1.
• Sewer and water connections were made for a new home on Brown Street. The existing
curb stop was leaking so Ken Evjen and I replaced it with a new one while Schrupp took
care of the excavating. Ken is doing a great job so far and I've enjoyed working with him.
• Check valves in the Industrial Park lift station were cleaned. I may have to replace these
before the end of the year.
• The wastewater spray irrigation system is up and running for the season. I'm working with
Team Lab on a product to address odor issues in our primary pond, likely related to sludge
buildup over the years.
• A late-night power outage early in May caused a phase failure and fried a compressor
motor in the water treatment plant. Numerous pumps, blowers, etc were affected by this
outage and had to be reset, but, luckily the thermal protection held up on most of the
equipment. The compressor motor has been replaced and is working fine now.
• MN Pumpworks installed new lift station telemetry units at the Industrial Park and Isabelle
locations. These units give us remote monitoring abilities that help us diagnose problems
faster and save us valuable time in the field.
• I attended 3-day SSTS courses for both Soils and Inspection in May in Alexandria and
Mankato.
Lake Shore:
• A STEP station pump was replaced and plumbing repaired at a residence on County Road
78 in early May.
• Check valves were cleaned at lift stations 4 and 5, and annual isolation valve exercising in
all lift station valve vaults is complete.
• Pumps were pulled and cleaned at the Causeway lift station.
Respectfully Submitted by Andy Schwartz,Water/Wastewater Operations Manager, City of
Pequot Lakes. Please feel free to call my cell at 320-232-5787 with any questions or concerns.
