MINUTES
PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
JULY 17,2008
PRESENT: Bill Habein, Tom Adams, Mark Hallan, Scott Pederson, Dean Williams,
Tom Woog and Mary Peterson. ABSENT: John Derksen.
CITY PLANNER: Charles Marohn, PE.
ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Dawn Bittner.
COUNCIL LIAISON: Cathy Malecha and Craig Nagel.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Woog at 6:35 p.m.
Chairman Woog moved to the public hearings to allow more time for participants to
arrive for the Special Discussion.
SPECIAL DISCUSSION:
Uses in the DMU Zone:
Mr. Marohn explained the Staff Report.
Ruth Ann Hanson, Chamber representative, was the only person in attendance for this
portion of the meeting. Sixty-nine invitations had been mailed out by the City.
Our goal this year was to remove obstacles in the ordinance that might hinder businesses
from moving to our downtown area. We would like to move to a performance based
process.
The property owners and tenants were invited. The invitations were not sent to the entire
Downtown Mixed Use zone. Ruth Ann Hanson stated she only received her invitation
this week. She can't speak for the businesses as she has not had time to gather the
information.
The PC wants to hear from the business community and we may need to wait until next
month to discuss this. The Chamber will remind them through emails, etc. The Planning
Commission asked what percent of the businesses that were invited are chamber
members? Ruth Ann Hanson stated the Chamber committee is working with non-
members also.
Minutes 1
Pequot Lakes Planning Commission
July 17, 2008
