COMMUNITY GROWTH
FAIN S T I T U T E
MEMORANDUM Experts in Small Town Planning
Date: June 20, 2008
To: Chuck Marohn
From: Megan Schlegel
Re: Jenkins Township Zoning
I have analyzed the zoning districts in Jenkins Township. They are as follows:
- Agricultural
- Agricultural/CU (does not exist in Ordinance)
- Green Space
- Public (does not exist in Ordinance)
- Rural Residential 5 acre
- Rural Residential 2.5 acre
- Rural Residential/CU
- Shoreline Residential
- Waterfront Commercial
- X (does not exist in Ordinance, most likely a multiple zoned parcel)
Comparing Jenkins Township zoning districts to those of Pequot Lakes can be done with the
following tables.
Agriculture (JT)/Agriculture (PL) and Forest Management(PL)
Minimum lot Minimum lot Impervious
size width Coverage
Jenkins
Township 10 acres 500 feet 15%
Pequot Lakes AG 20 acres 330 feet 10%
Pequot Lakes FM 10 acres 300 feet 10%
Jenkins Township Agricultural district promotes agricultural and forestry uses and compatible
low density residential development. General uses include farms, crops, livestock, feedlots,
forest land (growth and harvest), single and multi family dwellings, and recreational uses.
Pequot Lakes Agriculture district is for the preservation of family farms and small scale
agricultural uses to allow for low density residential development compatible with those uses.
General uses include agricultural use, animals (domestic), animal husbandry, recreational uses,
single and multi family dwellings, and logging.
Pequot Lakes Forest Management district is for sustainable management of forested areas, to
establish and maintain timber resources, protect the natural environment, preserve undeveloped
areas and provide recreation opportunities. Characterized by low density residential development
14084 Baxter Drive, Suite 7 I Baxter, Minnesota 56425 866.900.3064 www.communitygrowth.com
