MINUTES <br /> PEQUOT LAKES PLANNING COMMISSION <br /> REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING <br /> August 21, 2014 <br /> PRESENT: Deb Brown, Todd Engels, Bill Habein, Mark Hallan,James Oraskovich, <br /> Cheri Seils and Wesley Wilson. ABSENT: None. <br /> CITY PLANNER: Justin Burslie, Community Growth Institute <br /> ZONING ADMINISTRATOR: Dawn Bittner <br /> CITY COUNCIL LIAISONS: Jerry Akerson <br /> DOWNTOWN PLAN UPDATE: <br /> Trailside Park Improvements <br /> Mr. Burslie explained the updates made to the draft'upd.ate to the Trailside Park portion <br /> of the Downtown Plan. The following items were discussed: <br /> Number 9 —Veteran's Memorial: The Planning-Commission discussed other Veteran's <br /> Memorials and agreed that most are symmetr al. The Planning Commission is willing <br /> to work with the local Americans Legion Po ` they would like input on design. <br /> Number u — Band Shell Area: A semi-circle of Benches would create a break from other <br /> areas of the Park, although patrons of Music ip the Park prefer to move about the Park. <br /> The exiting benches need to be arranged so concert goers can face the Band Shell. <br /> Number 12 ='Trail Crosswalk: This is likely the busiest crossing in Pequot Lakes. The <br /> crosswalk needs to be enhanced,while meeting ADA standards. <br /> Number 13 — Sidewalk from Government Drive to Highway 371: A sidewalk needs to be <br /> constructed from Government Drive along the south side of County Road 11 as there <br /> currently is a dirt path indicating popular pedestrian corridor. <br /> The Planning Commission acknowledged it was very helpful to meet with the Park <br /> Board. <br /> Section VI. Proposed Improvements — <br /> Mr. Burslie pointed out the City Council directed the Planning Commission to update <br /> the draft Downtown Plan and that the City Council is expecting to see a final draft soon. <br /> Minutes 1 <br /> Pequot Lakes Planning Commission <br /> August 21, 2014 <br />
