The stipulation of the money is that it be used for a <br /> non-budgeted item that will benefit the community. <br /> 10.4 2015 Budget Discussion <br /> The City Clerk explained staff has been working on preliminary budgets <br /> which will be presented to the Council at a budget work session scheduled <br /> for August 19th. She explained that the preliminary levy budget is up by <br /> 35.55%. She explained that this is what will be presented to the Council <br /> on August 19th unless staff receives further directior%'to come with a lower <br /> percentage. <br /> The Clerk explained that Council Member Peterson an e-mail <br /> recommending a 3% overall increase in the general leviVb�d, gets. <br /> MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO DEVELOP A LEVY BUDGET' A 3% <br /> INCREASE AND THAT THE DEPARTMENTOEADS PRIOR IZE <br /> PROJECTS AND LINE ITEMS THAT NEED TO BE REMOVED FROM <br /> THE BUDGET AND LET THE COUNCIL MAKE THE DECISION ON <br /> WHICH PROJECTS AND I ITEMS SHOU ,BE INCLUDED IN THE <br /> LEVY. COUCIL MEMBER GAR ER,SECON*THE MOTION. <br /> Council Member Sjablad stated That the C"getting behind on the <br /> infrastructure c sireet projects and that is usually what gets cut from the <br /> budgets. He;"asked the Council to consider this when making budget cuts. <br /> MOTION CARMED . <br /> 11. Other Busriess <br /> 11.1. L�'islator of Dic tion Awards <br /> F <br /> Mayof ams recognized Representative John Ward and Senator Carrie <br /> Ruud for their leership and for the achievement of receiving the League <br /> of Minnesot4,Ci#ies Legislator of Distinction for 2014. <br /> MAYOR ADAMS MOVED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE <br /> ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF SENATOR RUUD AND REPRESENTATIVE <br /> WARD. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 4-0. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER MOVED TO ASSIGN THE CABLE <br /> FRANCHISE MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,726 FOR PLAYGROUND <br /> EQUIPMENT. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE <br />
