COMMUNITY 1H
GROW7`;
INSTITUTE
COUNCIL REPORT
cry of
Pequ ot
Lakes—
Application: Preliminary and Final Plat Application for the SuperValu Addition to
Pequot Lakes
Applicant: Steve Quisberg
Background Information: Last month, the preliminary and final plat applications for
the SuperValu Addition to Pequot Lakes were tabled in order to allow additional time for
the applicant to resolve an issue regarding the impervious surface coverage on the
property.
During the platting process, it was discovered the property exceeds the maximum
allowable impervious surface coverage of 50 %. The excess coverage is likely due to the
addition of the private roadway on the north side of the property. The applicant's
surveyor has indicated they wish to apply for a variance to exceed the impervious surface
coverage limit in the Commercial Zone. That application is scheduled to be reviewed at
the February Planning Commission Meeting.
City Council Direction: The City is required by Minnesota Statute 15.99 to make a
decision on an application within 12o days after it is submitted unless the applicant
grants the City additional time to make a decision. If an extension is not granted and the
deadline passes without a decision by the Council, the application is considered to be
approved (per Minnesota Statute 15.99)•
Staff sent a letter to the property owner requesting for the review period to be extended
through the March 15, 2013 City Council meeting. If the extension is not granted by the
property owner, the Council should make a decision on the application at the February
meeting.
Pequot Lakes Council Report
January 30, 2013
