Pequot Lakes Police Dept.
Report to the City Council
June 26, 2008
So far for the month of June the Department has logged more than 573 individual ICRs.
Current Activities:
The Reserves, Part time and Full time Officers conducted 689 individual business and home security
checks throughout the month, with 4 open doors found.
The entire Department is preparing for the 4th of July Activities. Everyone will be on duty before, during
and after the Parade, to ensure the safety of all spectators and guests to the events.
The Governor's Fishing Opener Committee Chairs have been selected as the Grand Marshals for the
parade this year. Both Chief Braam and Office Manager Wedan donated many hours of their own time
as Chairs for this event. Chief Braam was Chair of the Security Committee and Office Mgr Wedan was
Chair of the Logistics Committee. Both will be working with the Police Department float in the parade;
so they will not be available to ride with the rest of the Committee.
During the first week of June, Officer Petersen participated in the annual Safety Town program run
through the Pequot Lakes School to teach young children how to be safe in everyday life situations.
This is her 2nd year of being the "Officer on Duty" for the program.
The Reserves provided foot patrol during the recent 1st annual Cherry Car Show that took place in the
Chamber/ City park on June 7th. The Show was a great success with more than 80 vehicle entrants,
flea market and food venders. The Reserves will also be providing foot patrol during Bean Hole days
the week after the 4th of July events.
Officer Hogan conducted a tour of the Police Department and explained all of the equipment used by
officers for a group of 21 school age children from the Learn & Play Daycare on Monday, June 231 .
Also with the great weather we are finally having, Officer Hogan has been able to get out on the
Department Motor unit again.
Officer Nangle participated in a Welcome Home parade for Iraq War Veteran Josh Cameron on
Tuesday, June 24th. Helping the Patriot Motorcycle Guard escort Josh back into the City of Pequot
Lakes now that he has come home. The family had a get together in the City Park at the Gazebo area.
Respectfully Submitted,
c2 .7.7,-;izi_e_eciet___
Jerry Braam
Chief of Police
