Trailside Estates
Pequot City Council Meeting--July 1, 2008
Lift station was set to elevation Landecker told us — once set, the pipe was 14" too
high. Nothing was proposed by Landecker on how to fix it, other than removing it
and re-setting. We were not going to do that as weather was getting colder and
time was running out. We put in 2- 45's, but not until the next morning. This
should have allowed ample time for Jessica to tell her superiors and for both
engineering firms to discuss this.
Both engineering firms should have known this was not right at this time and
should have given us the option before it was covered up to core bore a new hole
in the side of the lift station to meet the pipe. It would have saved everyone a lot
of frustration.
The engineers should be partly responsible for the lift station, not just the
contractor. They both were paid by us to review the shop drawings, Landecker
to observe, and both to report and have meetings. The billings went through
the city so the city should have the responsibility of making sure the engineering
firms did the job they billed the city for and in turn us.
We mentioned that we felt both engineering firms should have some
responsibility in repairing the lift station when we met with Dawn Bittner and
Council members Ryan & Sjobdlad on October 31, 2007. They felt we would have
to take this up with the engineers. This should be the responsibility of the City.
If it was the City's money paying the bills, you would be questioning why this
happened when there are 5 engineers being paid to make sure it doesn't.
We also want to know why that when we had weekly meetings we were billed 32
1/2 hrs from WSN and only 6 from Landecker. Who was WSN meeting with? Not
us.
