Police City of Pequot City Hall
218-568-8111
Lakes 218-568-5222
Fax 218-568-5647 Fax 218-568-5860
>lpd @pequotlakes-mn.gov 4638 County Road 11 cityhall @pequotlakes-mn.gov
Pequot Lakes, MN 56472
www.pequotlakes-mn.gov
May 28, 2008
Wooddale Apartment Buildings
On April 2nd, Dave and Betty Settevig (Owners of Wooddale Apartment Buildings) had
Oaks Plumbing Company install two water meters to accurately meter all the water usage in both
buildings. They had paid for two 1 -inch water meters, two MXU's, and two meter-sets for a total
of about $800 to the city, as well as payment for the plumber's time and any other parts needed
for plumbing them in. Once the meters were installed, everything was checked over and all was
working fine.
However, on April 30th, the water meters were read, and we discovered a high usage of
30,000 gallons at 30551 Apt. Bldg. whereas 30543 Apt. Bldg. only used 8,000 gallons. Betty
Settevig called Tina about her water/sewer bill because she felt there was definitely something
wrong about the high usage at that apt. bldg. and she wanted it looked into. Tina checked the
~' meter on May 6th, and the meter was working fine, but water was flowing through it when there
shouldn't have been. It was discovered that there was a leaky toilet in one of the apt. units. The
Settevigs repaired it right away.
Because of their diligence of spending the money to get this work done and due to the fact
that this was their first month being metered, I would ask the council to reduce their current
charge of $674.36 to $342. 16.
Gary Gilmer
