City Council Minutes <br /> January 3,2023 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER RONNING MOVED TO AMEND THE CITY VEHICLE <br /> POLICY AS AMENDED IN THE STAFF REPORT. NO SECOND. MOTION <br /> DIED. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO AMEND THE CITY VEHICLE <br /> POLICY AS PRESENTED WITH CHANGING THE 15 MILE RADIUS TO 5 MILE <br /> RADIUS OF PEQUOT LAKES CITY LIMITS. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS <br /> SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER <br /> RONNING OPPOSED. <br /> 8.4 Approval for Officer Hire <br /> Staff is requesting post the officer position left vacant by the promotion of Officer <br /> Mike Davis as the new Chief of Police. <br /> Council Member Pederson would like to see recruitment done along with <br /> advertising the position. <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER CLEMENT MOVED TO APPROVE THE SEARCH FOR A <br /> POLICE OFFICER. COUNCIL MEMBER SEILS SECONDED THE MOTION. <br /> MOTION CARRIED 5-0. <br /> 9. Public Works <br /> 9.1. Public Works Report <br /> The December 2022 Public Works Report was received by the Council. <br /> 10. Administration <br /> 10.1 Junior Council Member—Moved to 3.01 <br /> 10.2. Housing Projects update <br /> New home construction in Trailside Estates will begin in Spring. Staff looking for <br /> council recommendation on lot sale structure. Staff is recommending selling a <br /> block of 3-5 lots at a time to the developer. This allows the City to maintain <br /> control of the process to assure acceptable development and standards. <br /> Mr. Spiczka stated that after the road restrictions are removed in the spring, the <br /> developer will start construction. Consensus of the Council for Trailside Estates <br /> is to sell the developer lots as they build (such as 3 lots—build and sell homes <br /> then will purchase the next lots). <br /> Corner Lot Development has agreed in principle to purchase 4 acres at a price of <br /> $40,000/acre in the HOTGL Residential zone for the construction of an <br />
