Resolution Number City of Pequot Lakes RESOLUTION TO PARTICIPATE IN THE HAZARD MITIGATION PLANNING PROCESS WHEREAS, the County of Crow Wing [the County] is participating in a hazard mitigation planning process as established under the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000; and WHEREAS, the Region Five Development Commission, under the guidelines established by the Act, has provided a framework for the development of the Crow Wing County Hazard Mitigation Plan; and WHEREAS, the plan must include a risk assessment including past hazards, hazards that threaten the county, maps of hazards, an estimate of structures at risk, estimate of potential dollar losses for each hazard, a general description of land uses and development trends; and WHEREAS, the plan must include a mitigation strategy including goals and objectives and an action plan with specific mitigation projects and costs; and WHEREAS, the plan must include a maintenance and implementation process including plan updates, integration of plan into other planning documents and how the County will maintain public participation and coordination; and draft plan will be shared with all local units of government within the County, WHEREAS, the p g will be made available throughout the County at public locations, will be shared with Minnesota Planning for coordination of state agency review and comment on the draft; and WHEREAS, approval of the hazard mitigation plan will secure the eligibility of the County to receive Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding; and WHEREAS, this resolution does not preclude the city from preparing a separate plan sometime in the future should it desire to do so. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Pequot Lakes supports the Crow Wing County hazard mitigation planning effort, wishes to participate in preparing the plan and recognizes that the plan will apply within the city.
