2022 was a successful year for the library. All the numbers for material checkouts(circulation),
patron visits and hours donated were up. We continue to receive$5,000 each year from the
Kitchigami Regional Library System for the purchase of new materials. (This is mentioned
because the Crow Wing County fund from which this amount comes is not bottomless; the
Council needs to be aware of this fact.)
Terri Grimes our Children's Coordinator, once again offered an outstanding Summer Reading
Program, 134 children participated,which exceeds pre-Covid numbers.The program was
generously supported by the Pelican Lake Conservation Club, and the Friends of the Library. The
Library also participated in the CAPL Halloween program, 500 trick or treaters came to the
Library as Terri and Jenny Moe handed out candy. As part of Santa's Bobbin Into Town the
Library sponsored Bob the Magician with over 100 people in attendance. Story time continues
on a weekly basis throughout the year, with several volunteers reading stories.
The Friends of the Pequot Lakes Library continue to be generous in their support of the library.
This year, in addition to their usual support, they purchased the lot behind and to the west of
the library for future expansion. In 2023 a visioning committee will be established to determine
the best use of this lot.
Improvements at the library include several technical purchases for the library's meeting room.
These include a smart TV, a digital white board, laptop, and the OWL camera meeting system
for remote meetings. These items were purchased through the American Rescue Funds.
After 18 years, Library Coordinator Nancy Adams retired, she was instrumental in starting the
library and helping it grow into the vital organization it is today. Her efforts throughout the
years are very much appreciated, and I hope to continue her good work.
Linda Olson
Library Coordinator
