! I/ /
June 10, 2007 RECEIVED
Darrel L. Olson JUN 1 4 2007
CMA Appraiser
County Assessor
Crow Wing County Court House
26 Laurel Street, Suite 31
Brainerd, Minnesota 56401
Dear Mr. Olson,
I am in receipt of your letter dated May 21, 2007 which reduces the assessed value of my
property, Parcel Number 290102404B00889, from $704,700 to $554,000.
I understand that we disagree as to the value of my property. It is still my belief that the
sum of the parts method of valuation does not work on my property due to its unusual
nature. The local Board of Appeals did not use either of our approaches to determine the
$150,700 valuation adjustment. It was based on the condition of an adjacent property as
detailed in my written statement to the board During the meeting I specifically discussed
with the board that this was a continuing problem that dates back several years.
My neighbor Mr. Swanson had come before the board a few years ago and again at this
year's meeting and obtained relief for the same reason. I stated to the board that I did not
want to waste everyone's time by coming before the board every year to ask for relief.
.. The board agreed and indicated that the valuation adjustment would remain in place until
the problem was remedied.
As to the mechanics of implementation it is my understanding that valuation of my
property will be made as follows:
1. That you will determine the value of the property as you have done in the past,
increasing the valuation as appropriate.
2. That the valuation will then be reduced by $150,700.
It is my further understanding that this approach will be used until you have been notified
in writing by someone in authority that the problem with the adjacent property has been
resolved.
I thank you for candor and the professional quality of your presentation at the meeting.
I was surprised and gratified by the non-confrontational nature of the meeting. It
contributed to a feeling on my part that I was being treated fairly by all parties.
Once again, thank you for your assistance in resolving this matter.
1114/ 1
Raymond J.
