COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD MOVED TO TAKE THE MOTION FROM THE TABLE TO CONSIDER THE PURCHASE OF A 2013 CHEVY TAHOE. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED TO ACCEPT THE POLICE CHIEF’S REQUEST TO USE THE FUNDS BUDGETED AS PRESENTED IN THE COUNCIL MEMO TO PURCHASE A 2013 CHEVROLET TAHOE FROM DONDELINGER CHEVROLET AT $31,012. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. Council Member Gardner indicated his concern of purchasing a new vehicle that is not being used as a patrol vehicle. Council discussion pursued regarding the need for a 4 wheel drive. Officer Ryan stated that the vehicle would be used as a patrol vehicle if an officer on patrol needed it due to inclement weather. Council Member Akerson stated that he has a problem with a black vehicle. MOTION CARRIED 3-2. COUNCIL MEMBERS AKERSON AND GARDNER VOTED AGAINST THE MOTION. Council Member Pederson requested to make a statement regarding the Police Department. He noted that the Council recently adopted a police budget which allocates funds to the Department and that they have also approved a 3-year union contract in support of the officers. Council Member Pederson stated that he would like to publicly show support to the Department and to publicly thank them for the job that they do. COUNCIL MEMBER PEDERSON MOVED THAT THERE BE NO INQUIRY OF ANY KIND OR DISCUSSIONS REGARDING REPLACING THE DEPARTMENT WITH THE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT OR ANY OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY. COUNCIL MEMBER SJOBLAD SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 4-1. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON OPPOSED. 8.4. Purchase of Ammunition Officer Ryan requested the Council to authorize a check to Crow Wing County for the purchase of ammunition. COUNCIL MEMBER AKERSON MOVED TO APPROVE PAYMENT TO CROW WING COUNTY FOR AMMUNITION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,672.00. COUNCIL MEMBER GARDNER SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
