PEQUOT LAKES FIRE DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF THE APRIL 2, 2008 MEETING
The monthly meeting of the PLFD was called to order by Chief Nelson, 26 members
were present. The minutes of the last meeting were not read due to a lack of time by a
motion by Evenson, second by Oaks, motion passed.
Truck and equipment checks were discussed. The ATV and trailer were OK and the
lights for the ATV were ordered. Grass 2 has a signal light out, a missing funnel, and the
pump is not on it. Tanker 2 is good. Engine 2 is good and is not leaking oil. Engine 3 is
good. Tanker 1 is good and still does not have the floating pump on it. Tanker 3 is all
good and has been repaired. Water tender is good but the generator will not keep running.
Rescue 1 is good but has a radio out of service. Rescue 2 is good. Grass 1 is good but the
pressure gauge on the pump does not work. The air packs are all good.
The RIT chainsaw on Rescue 2 should not be used for heavy duty cutting such as roof
venting.
The financial report has our fire fund balance at about $31,000. Our checking account
balance tonight is $2157.94. The City owes us for $2399.27 for expenses we already
paid. Our real balance after we are paid back is $4557.21. The scholarship balance is
$1167.47
There is no correspondence.
The safety issue for tonight is to make sure our air packs are all ready for use when you
put them back on a vehicle. Always check all the basic stuff. We also should be using
NFPA 1403 standards for our live house burns.
OLD BUSINESS: The main thing to remember from the hybrid auto class is to not cut
the orange cable. Also pull the headliner down to expose the air bags. When we do cut
the 12 volt power cables, remember it will take about 10 minutes to power down.
The FEMA grant application has been submitted.
The house burn is scheduled for Saturday, April 12th, starting at 7:00 am here at the hall.
Bill has money to purchase burning supplies and to help pay for lunch.
We did receive a grant from the Lakes Medical Association for the audio and sound
equipment for the training room. We have already paid for that expense, so we are trying
to get permission to use that donation for other purposes.
We need to send a thank you to Hecker's Toyota for the use of the hybrid cars for our
class. The Chief also thanks everyone who came to the hybrid car class. Some of the
other fire departments did not have the turnout that they registered for.
