Notes:
• The Wellhead Protection Team, Councilman Sjoblad, Mark
Wettlaufer of MRWA, Water/Wastewater Supervisor Gary Giltner,
City Clerk Sandy Peine and Wellhead Manager Dawn Bittner, met to
discuss implementation activities that have been completed and those
that need to be addressed. An update will be provided to the City
Council in the Annual Report.
• The update of the address list for the Census Bureau has been
completed and forwarded to the Census Bureau. Approximately 120
hours were documented for this task.
• There have been major changes to Minnesota Rules Chapter 7080,
which regulates sewage treatment systems. After attending an
Administrative Training sponsored by the MPCA, I met with a
representative of the County Planning and Zoning Office. The
County needs to amend their Ordinance within 2 years of the changes
to the Rules. We decided to invite all of the municipalities and LUG's
within the County to a brainstorming session to discuss the process
and participation in developing a new County Ordinance. This
meeting was held April 23 in our Council Chambers with 14
participants and 12 LUG's represented, plus the County. It was a very
enthusiastic group that plans to meet monthly to discuss the changes
and create the new Ordinance. The goal is to ultimately have a
document that each municipality can adopt once the County has
adopted it.
• Government Training Services offers several training opportunities
pertaining to Planning and Zoning. Jeanyne attended the Basics
seminar on April 23 in Little Falls. She will also attend the Beyond
the Basics and Advanced Zoning Applications in May and June.
• I plan to attend the Build Smart Summit on April 30 and May 1.
Topics to be covered include enhancing water quality, conservation
design approaches, lake improvement districts, commercial/downtown
redevelopment, low impact development and green construction.
Completed April 29, 2008 2
