EDC Minutes <br /> September 20, 2022 <br /> Page 5 of 4 <br /> Commissioner Rieck stated a few years ago, the EDC and the Council approved a <br /> Welcoming Communities Advisory Group. She stated that after various officials <br /> left, the group had to be re-vamped. She said it was decided to use their$10,000 <br /> to support Early Childhood Education Program. She said in the past few months, <br /> artist Kevin Olson was hired to paint a mural on the Early Childhood Building <br /> entrance, and he has done other artwork in Pequot, including the mural on the <br /> post office. She said his mural will be all inclusive to different types of children, <br /> including those with disabilities and different races. Commissioner Rieck said they <br /> will also install two new pieces of equipment on the playground that are <br /> accessible to kids with disabilities. She said they are musical pieces from Free <br /> Notes Harmony and with the help of Shannon Wheeler, the director of the Early <br /> Childhood Program, an additional $5,000 was received through grants from the <br /> Five Wings Art Council that will also be used to obtain the new equipment. She <br /> said the artist will begin the mural in January or February 2023, instead of <br /> September 2022 due to his schedule. <br /> 11. Adioum <br /> COMMISSIONER BECKLIN MOVED TO ADJORN THE MEETING. <br /> COMMISSIONER HOLLEY SECONDED THE METTING.
