Sandelin, City of Pequot Lakes
City Attorney, regarding negotiations for a new labor agreement with the City of Pequot
g g ne g
Police Union represented b Teamsters Local No. 346. I would propose to
Lakes P p y
ions services for the City at the rate of $ 175 per hour. Bills would be
conduct labor relations y
submitted monthly
and would contain an itemization of labor relations services rendered
f service per month. Mileage would be billed at the current IRS rate. I do
and the hours o p g
not bill i
for meals or other travel-related expenses (except where an overnight stay s
required), nor for clerical assistance or long distance telephone calls.
q )
To make the p negotiating process of ne otiatin a new contract as efficient as possible, I would
contact the Teamsters Union and ask to have a copy of their contract proposal sent to me,
in return for which I would after consultation with the City, send the Union the City' s
contract proposal for review prior to the first meeting. I have found that this process
p p p
usually results in agreement on much of the contract language at the outset of
negotiations so that the parties can quickly identify the actual issues that are in dispute.
g p q
planning for the actual negotiations meetings, I would need to know who the City
In p g g
would wish to have in attendance. You may wish to consider having one or more
Council members in attendance (preferably the same ones at each meeting), and for
may operational issues it be advantageous to have the Police Chief in attendance.
p y
W:\SCF\New\Pequot Lakes\labor services proposal 2008.docx
