JENKINS TOWNSHIP MEETING <br /> March 11,2008 <br /> Regular meeting of the Jenkins Township Board of Supervisors was called to order by <br /> Chair Czech on March 11,2008,following the Annual Meeting.Pledge of Allegiance <br /> had been recited previously. <br /> Attending: Chair Czech, Supervisors Thurlow,Macnamara. Treasurer Hagen. Clerk D. <br /> Johnson has resigned effective March 11,2008 and could not be in attendance. Guests: <br /> Nancy Macnamara,Ed Walton,Patti Bullen. (Walton,Bullen left later.) Pequot police <br /> Brad and Brandon. George Voges had attended previous to the Annual Meeting and left. <br /> Pequot Police report. No action <br /> February 2008 minutes approved.No changes. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Carl Wendt bill from Fire Department is still outstanding. M/Thurlow, S/Czech to pay <br /> Pequot Fire Department for this bill. ($350). All ayes. M/carried. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> `., Rezoning of James Hardy. Planning and Zoning documents reviewed. Township has <br /> concerns as Hardy's survey encroaches into Township cemetery. Macnamara will <br /> contact P&Z officials and Cheryl will obtain deeds form safety deposit box for <br /> Macnamara. P&Z meeting scheduled for 3/27/08 at 5:00 P.M. Someone will try to <br /> attend. <br /> Notice received from County Auditor of Board of Review and Equalization, set for may <br /> 1,2008 at 2:00 P.M. MI Czech, second Thurlow to hold Board of Review on this date. <br /> All ayes. M/carried. Thurlow will post and place in publication and send Certification to <br /> County. Czech and Thurlow had training in 2005. Required every four years. <br /> Letter from CWC County with bill for Animal Control. Board voted to not participate. <br /> Motion Czech, second Thurlow.All ayes. M/carried. <br /> Discussion of Annual Meeting recommendation for Orderly Annexation to the City of <br /> Pequot Lakes. Board feels strongly that the township should be in charge of their own <br /> destiny. The Town Board electors do not appear willing to serve on the board. Two <br /> supervisors are prepared to leave the Board and the present Clerk has resigned due to <br /> family matters. The City of Pequot appears to be the logical choice for annexation,as <br /> opposed to the City of Jenkins. The Board feels Pequot Lakes has a strong planning and <br /> zoning and in light of the Township's Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Maps,this <br /> would protect the valuable resources within the township.
