MONTHLY STAFF REPORT <br /> City Clerk's Office <br /> February,2008 <br /> Meetings <br /> City Council Meetings <br /> The City Council held one meeting in February.No special meetings were held. <br /> Park Board <br /> The Park Board met in February for its monthly meeting. See attached draft minutes. The <br /> Park Board heard a presentation from Lynn Scharenbroich on the Paul Bunyan Scenic <br /> Byway. They also heard a presentation from Jim Fruth of the Lion's Club on the <br /> Chokecherry Festival being planned for August 16th. <br /> Since the Park Board had Paul Bunyan's chair installed at the Bobber Park,the City has <br /> received many positive responses. However,when the Park Board installed the steps to <br /> access the chair,the Park Board and City received quite a few comments on how the <br /> steps detract from the chair. City staff met with the League of Minnesota Cities Loss <br /> Control Consultant and its insurance agent, Mark Jurchen regarding the issue. The Park <br /> Board has decided to remove the steps and place signage near the chair indicating that the <br /> chair is not playground equipment. (See minutes for more detail). <br /> The Park Board discussed the Ox Trot. The Park Board felt it would be worthwhile to be <br /> involved in the Ox Trot. The Board is requesting the City Council to pay for one-half of <br /> the cost. This will be discussed at the March Council meeting. <br /> Economic Development Committee <br /> The Economic Development Committee held its regular meeting in January. (See <br /> attached minutes). These meetings are open to the public and are normally held the third <br /> Tuesday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at City Hall. <br /> At the February meeting the EDC heard from two Chamber representatives regarding a <br /> survey that had been taken by the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber discussed issues <br /> that had been identified from the survey. <br /> The EDC decided to pursue the topic of a future expansion of the City's Business Park. <br /> The EDC has decided to dedicate the April 15th meeting to this topic and would like to <br /> invite Council members who are interested to attend the meeting. <br /> The EDC held a special meeting on February 26th for the purpose of hearing two <br /> proposals for the business park. These proposals will be before the Council on March 3rd. <br /> Safety Committee Meeting Minutes <br />
