EDC Minutes <br /> June 21,2022 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> Mark Jurchen stated he would like to put an insert into the water and sewer bills to <br /> inform residents and landowners of the WAC and SAC fee waiver. He also <br /> informed the EDC that he presented the ADU concept to the Planning <br /> Commission and they will be pursuing it. The EDC Commission thanked Mr. <br /> Jurchen for all his hard work. Discussion ensued about building costs and interest <br /> rates. <br /> 7. 2022 Proiect Goals <br /> Chair Lottman stated that he would like to see a recommendation go to City <br /> Council on behalf of the EDC Commission and asked for input on <br /> recommendations they could bring to the Council,Chair Lottman <br /> summarized the prior month's meeting with the builders. Commissioner <br /> Hallan stated he discussed potential rezoning to allow multi-unit housing in <br /> the Heart of the Good Life with a couple of builders. He also discussed <br /> there needs to be a plan to extend sewer and water. He recommended <br /> going to planning and zoning for input before bringing the information to the <br /> City Council. Discussion ensued about modifying the Comprehensive Plan <br /> and the TIF District in the HOTGL: <br /> Discussion ensued about potential issues with leaving the HOGTL as only <br /> commercial development, residential development in the HOGTL, a sports complex, <br /> and infrastructure costs. Kurt Stumpf stated that the school is doing a facility study <br /> and they will bring in the public for input and/or solutions in September or October to <br /> get something to the board in November. He stated the sports complex could come <br /> up in the publics input: Discussion ensued about the areas that the residential area <br /> could go in the HOGTL and trying to get something happening sooner than later. <br /> Tyler Glynn stated that he is meeting with Tim Houle tomorrow and they will discuss <br /> if it is worth it to redraw it and to potentially produce a few options. The consensus <br /> of the EDC was to have Mr. Glynn and Mr. Houle to produce a few ideas to present <br /> at the EDC meeting in July. <br /> 8. , BLAEDC Update <br /> Mr. Glynn stated the BLAEDC annual meeting was held May 19, 2022, and the <br /> turnout was great with about one hundred people in attendance. He stated the <br /> family business topic that was discussed and services to provide to these <br /> businesses. He said they just signed a contract with the Small Business <br /> Development Center and informed the EDC that BLAEDC is a satellite location for <br /> them. He said they may hire a consultant or two to assist with the workload. He <br /> said he needs a new Administrative Assistant since they just lost theirs. <br /> Mr. Glynn stated that Mike Bejerknes, BLAEDC Workforce Director, hires <br /> executive level individuals for local businesses and stated he has hired fifteen <br /> people already this year and his budget is set to hire ten people in a year. He <br /> stated he would like to present the program next month, so the EDC understands <br /> what is involved in it. He stated that he has been presenting at other City Council <br /> meetings and that Pequot is in a good situation with potential housing growth in <br /> the HOGTL. <br />
