My office has worked with the City Staff over the past few months codifying the City's existing ordinances into a City Code. The City Code is essentially an organized set of all City Ordinances. Throughout the codification process we have updated ordinances based upon changes in the law, suggested the repeal of outdated or old ordinances, or simply made corrections to typographical errors in existing Ordinances. The end result is an organized current set of laws of the City that the City will maintain and update in the future for use by the City Staff, City Council, as well as the public. Each member of the City Council will receive a copy of the City Code and in addition there will also be a current City Code kept at City Hall. There will also be a copy available at City Hall for your review that shows the changes that have been made to the existing ordinances. In addition there are appendixes to the City Code that list all ordinances that have been repealed or have not been codified into the City Code (for example annexation ordinances). The Chapter numbering system is set up to allow for future expansion utilizing the even number Chapters 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16. For your convenience the following are highlights by Chapter of changes or additions to the City Code: Chapter 1 - General Provisions and Definitions Applicable to the Entire City Code. • Definitions updated including current misdemeanor offenses.
